Trump Rages at Judge Merchan Even After Getting a Slap on Wrist

Donald Trump, despite learning Friday that he would not be given prison time, probation, or even a fine as a result of his felony conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records, still found a way to complain about the judge who made that decision.

Taking to Truth Social, the unrepentant president-elect criticized New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who said earlier he plans to order an “unconditional discharge” for Trump, which requires no obligations.

In typical fashion, Trump made the sweeping—and unsupported—claim that “every legal scholar and pundit” has “unequivocally stated that the Manhattan D.A.‘s Witch Hunt is a nonexistent case.”

“This illegitimate political attack is nothing but a Rigged Charade,” Trump continued. “‘Acting’ Justice Merchan, who is a radical partisan, just issued another order that is knowingly unlawful, goes against our Constitution and, if allowed to stand, would be the end of the Presidency as we know it.”

Merchan, who is expected to give the unconditional discharge on Jan. 10, in his court order Friday called out Trump for his continual attacks on him, his family, and prosecutors.

“Defendant’s disdain for the Third Branch of government, whether state or federal, in New York or elsewhere, is a matter of public record,“ Merchan wrote. ”Indeed, Defendant has gone to great lengths to broadcast on social media and other forums his lack of respect for judges, juries, grand juries and the justice system as a whole.”

Friday’s posts were more of the same.
