WATCH: Festival’s Main Stage Engulfed in Flames Days Before Event Begins

HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

The centerpiece of Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival was burned to cinders days before the event is due to start.

This aerial photograph shows the main stage of the Tomorrowland music festival that was totally destroyed by fire a day before thousands of electronic dance music lovers were due to descend on the Belgian event in Boom, near Antwerp, on July 17, 2025. There were no injuries, organisers said, insisting that they would still go ahead with the festival over the next two weekends. The main stage at Tomorrowland, one of Europe’s biggest electronic music festivals, was “severely damaged” after it went up in flames just two days before the festival was due to start. Nobody was injured during the incident in Belgium, organizers confirmed, and the festival will still go ahead over the next two weekends with the focus now on “finding solutions” to replace the torched stage. The cause of the fire was not given, but was believed to be accidental. Around 100,000 people are expected to descend upon the town of Boom where the festival is taking place, with many attendees expected to camp onsite. Headliners include David Guetta, Charlotte de Witte and Armin Van Buuren, with the majority of acts split between the now-torched main stage and the nearby freedom stage. In an update on Thursday, organizers said: “It’s impossible to put into words what we’re feeling. The Orbyz Mainstage of Tomorrowland Belgium 2025, a creation born from pure passion, imagination, and dedication, is no more. This wasn’t just a stage. It was a living, breathing world.” They added: “We spent the night working on possible solutions for the Mainstage area. No other parts of the festival venue, stages or areas were impacted.”
