Kristi Noem is no longer serving in the job Donald Trump seemingly invented to keep her busy after firing her as Homeland Security secretary.

The former Cabinet secretary has departed her post as the Trump administration’s special envoy for the Shield of the Americas initiative, CBS News reported on Thursday.

“Kristi Noem’s envoy status expired last month and she is no longer in the role,” a State Department official told the outlet. “She is now a senior adviser to Deputy Secretary Landau and continues to work on the Shield of the Americas portfolio.

The Daily Beast has reached out to the State Department for comment.

Noem, 54, was appointed to the inaugural role immediately after the 80-year-old president fired her as Homeland Security secretary in March.

The Trump administration created the coalition, made up of the U.S. and several Latin American and Caribbean nations, to address anti-cartel enforcement and economic issues, among other matters.

Noem, nicknamed “ICE Barbie” for her rotating wardrobe of law enforcement outfits while serving as DHS Secretary, engaged in diplomatic efforts at the United Nations General Assembly last month despite her envoy designation expiring shortly beforehand.

She appeared at a Shield of the Americas meeting at the U.N. on Sept. 22, where Trump highlighted her work in the role he installed her in six months earlier.

“I want to thank Kristi Noem for doing a really terrific job,” the president said at the meeting.

Noem was the first Trump 2.0 Cabinet secretary to get the boot, followed soon after by former Attorney General Pam Bondi and former Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

She was replaced by former Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin.

Her tenure as DHS secretary was fraught with controversy, including when she called ICE shooting victim Alex Pretti a “domestic terrorist” amid the disastrous “Operation Metro Fury” in Minnesota, as well as her close relationship with top aide Corey Lewandowski.

Beyond firing hundreds of FEMA staff and buying a fleet of luxury private jets with federal money, it was her self-indulgent $220 million ad campaign that was the last straw for Trump.

In a Truth Social post announcing Mullin’s appointment as DHS secretary, Trump said Noem “has served us well” and thanked her for her service at “Homeland.”
