Eyewitnesses reported the pillar “recoiled at high speed,” striking bystanders nearby as it flew from the ride. Twenty-three victims were onboard the ride as it plummeted towards the ground, and received on-site first aid treatment before being rushed to a nearby hospital. The theme park was immediately shut down following the incident as authorities launched an investigation, with the city of Taif declaring a Code Yellow emergency, which indicates a lockdown but no immediate danger.
